Common Technical Issues: KAWASAKI KX125BRAND: KAWASAKIMODEL: KX125 YEARS: 81 CATEGORY: DIRT BIKE TECHNICAL ISSUE DETAILS The older KX ignition systems use a stator with an inner rotor and a separate CDI unit. The stator consists of a plate with two coils that are connected in series (high speed coil and low speed coil) There is NO Pickup coil, the timing is determined by the CDI based on input signal from the stator source coils. Loss of spark: Typically one of the stator source coil fails, in which case the complete stator needs to be replaced. Our part# is ESC7071 The CDI does fail occasionally, and finding a replacement can be a problem. Electronicamotos is working on a replacement CDI unit for these models but it is not available yet.
